Partners in PollinationPartners in Pollination is an interactive exhibit that will explain the fascinating relationships between native plants and pollinators. Bats, hummingbirds, and bees are just some of the pollinators featured. Plant and animal specimens from the collections of BRIT and the Fort Worth Nature Center will be on display, and young children will enjoy exploring the pretend center where they can dress as their favorite pollinator. Green from the Ground Up!BRIT's opening exhibition will highlight the sustainable features of the building not visible to the public eye. Open to the public May 21, the exhibit will interpret and demonstrate the pioneering living (green) roof project for BRIT’s new facility and its connection to the native landscape of this region. Through digital technology, the exhibit allows visitors to view the roof and discover the native prairie barrens plants that are thriving on our prairie on the roof! Learn also about the story of the research conducted by Texas Christian University and the process and the learning that has taken place as a result of this unique project. View the new technology that provides solar energy to the building through the Green Mountain Energy Solar at BRIT. Learn strategies for conserving water, one of our most precious resources, from the Tarrant Regional Water District exhibit. Then marvel at the technology responsible for heating and cooling the building through an energy-saving geothermal system. While you are here, pick up a brochure and take a self-guided tour of the sustainable features of the building, complete with a cell-phone audio tour or website information about the things you can do at home to live sustainably.
